Job Description: Gas Utility Manager
Position Overview:
The Gas Utility Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the operations of the gas utility department within an energy and utilities organization. The incumbent will ensure the smooth functioning of gas distribution systems, monitor regulatory compliance, and optimize performance to meet business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement strategies to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient gas utility operations.
2. Manage and lead a team of gas utility professionals, providing guidance, support, and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
3. Monitor and analyze gas supply and demand patterns, and develop strategies to optimize gas distribution and storage systems.
4. Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations, codes, and standards, and implement processes to mitigate potential risks.
5. Collaborate with regulatory bodies and stakeholders to address and resolve any regulatory compliance issues.
6. Plan and manage capital projects for gas utility infrastructure upgrades or expansions, ensuring projects are executed within budget and timeline.
7. Develop and maintain relationships with key gas suppliers, contractors, and other external partners to ensure reliable and cost-effective gas supply.
8. Monitor and analyze gas utility performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
9. Conduct regular inspections and audits of gas utility facilities to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
10. Prepare and present reports on gas utility operations, performance, and financials to senior management and other stakeholders.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Management, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
2. Proven experience in managing gas utility operations, with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
3. In-depth knowledge of gas utility systems, equipment, and processes, including distribution, storage, and metering systems.
4. Strong understanding of safety regulations, codes, and standards related to gas utility operations.
5. Ability to analyze complex data, identify patterns, and make data-driven decisions to optimize gas utility operations.
6. Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
7. Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, execute, and monitor projects effectively.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders effectively.
